6 Tourist Sites in Israel with Misleading Names: #5 - Shulamit Waterfall, Ein Gedi Nature Reserve The Ein Gedi reserve is considered one of the most popular reserves in Israel, thanks to its combinations of springs, waterfalls, rivers and the desert view. According to the Old Testament, it was in this oasis that King David hid from Saul, which is why one of the rivers is named after him. Other rivers and waterfalls in the reserves were named after heroes mentioned in the Song of Songs, including Shulamit, who scholars believe has never been related to the waterfall in any way.
