IDF increases forces in Judea and Samaria in the shadow of tension; Hamas wants "To foil sovereignty plans"
This week, the IDF decided to send reinforcements to the Judea and Samaria Division. The decision was made after an assessment of the security situation and the recent security breaches in the area.
In addition, in the light of the sovereignty declarations, two situation assessments will be held between the General Staff Operations Division, the Intelligence Division, the Central Command, and the Southern Command. The assessments will focus on the situation in Gaza and Judea and Samaria, and to make security changes accordingly.
Today is July 1st, the date PM Benjamin Netanyahu planned to announce the sovereignty processes. The main concern of the IDF is that this will lead to tension that will escalate. Protests are expected during the day in Ramallah, al-Bira, and in A'ara.
The terrorist organization Hamas calls for confronting Israel. One of their spokesmen, Abdel Latif, Knauz said: "We are in a difficult stage that is demanding the Palestinian public will reach out and confront the checkpoints and military posts to thwart Israel’s plans."
Islamic Jihad senior Daud Shihab also sent threats saying that "Palestinian resistance has the absolute right to use whatever means it wants to confront the enemy, at any time, and in any way it wants.”
