Ashkelon prepares for missile attack
Today is July 1st, the date PM Benjamin Netanyahu planned to announce the sovereignty processes. Fearing terrorist organizations plan to attack once the announcement is made, Israeli citizens are preparing for an attack on civilian life.
The municipality of Ashkelon is preparing for security scenarios by checking and opening bomb shelters throughout the city.
Mayor Tomer Glam convened an emergency meeting earlier this week, preparing, once again, for rocket fire from Gaza toward Ashkelon. The city has built state-of-the-art bomb shelters with a remote door opening system, so all of the shelters can be opened in a matter of seconds, by a simple push of a button.
The mayor said that he hoped that steps would not be taken by the terrorist organizations and that we would enter another round of confrontation. Glan said that no matter the scenario, Ashkelon would be prepared to deal with the threat. "I trust the Israeli government to prepare for the terrorist organizations in Gaza, as we were promised in the past. If another round of confrontation with Gaza begins, it is necessary for the government to make it the final round. The citizens of Ashkelon are tired of living in shelters. We need a thorough response to the threat that has disrupted our lives for two decades."
