Iran holds South Korea hostage while blaming them for withholding funds An Iranian government spokesman said today that South Korea holds about $ 7 billion of Iran's money as "hostage" after it froze the money following sanctions imposed by the United States.  The incident took place against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' takeover of a tanker that sailed under the South Korean flag in the Persian Gulf.  South Korea also announced that it would send a delegation to Iran today to discuss the release of the tanker and the 20 members of the ship's crew who were arrested.
