Show These Lone Soldiers Some Love!
Author: Nefesh B'Nefesh Organization
They were neighbors in the U.S., enlisted to Magav (Border Police), and are soon to be married!
Although their homes in Miami were only 20 minutes apart, D (name withheld for security reasons) and Shoshana from Florida met in the Michve Alon Hebrew Course, when they drafted as Lone Soldiers to the IDF. The two enlisted in the same unit, fell in love, and got engaged!
They lived in the same city for years, but fate decided to bring together in Israel- Sgt. D, a combat soldier in the Israel Border Police's undercover unit, and Sgt. Shoshana, a combat soldier who served in the Magav Unit.
At the end of the Hebrew course, the two were assigned to complete training in the Border Police and they served on the same base.
The two grew up with similar values: they both dreamed of making Aliyah to Israel and serving in combat, and their families stayed in the United States.
D and Shoshana have been together for two and a half years. They say that although they do not have much free time, they manage to find time to meet. Sometimes they even meet in the field while working in the same area.
A few couple of months ago, D and Shoshana decided to surprise their families and flew to the States. Shoshana herself was surprised during that visit when D took out a ring and proposed!
They plan to marry in Jerusalem, in the holy place where they serve together. D has begun permanent recruitment procedures in the unit and Shoshana has enrolled in law school at IDC in Herzliya.
We wish D and Shoshana many happy and healthy years together. Mazal tov!
