Soroka hospital in Israel is leading a study of several hospitals to monitor the immune response in the fourth vaccine dose
The largest study of its kind in the world will examine the response of the immune system and provide information on the effectiveness of the vaccine, and the ability to neutralize antibodies
The observational study will include a sample of about 1000 subjects, from Clalit Health Services employees, who were vaccinated in the third dose - the first booster, with some of them receiving the fourth vaccine dose - the second booster.
Participants will be under clinical and laboratory follow-up for six months. During the observational study, the study participants will undergo special serological tests once a month at the Virology Laboratory in Soroka, headed by Prof. Yonath Shemer.
The study will examine 4 different types of corona virus antibodies and will allow monitoring of the response and decay of the vaccine over time. As part of the study, there is a close collaboration with Prof. Tomer Hertz and Prof. Ran Tauba from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University, who are expanding the follow-up by conducting further tests of the immune system's ability to neutralize the various variants, including respiratory activity.
