The prime minister will take off on Friday for the first meeting with the Russian president. At the center of the conversation are expected to be the Iranian nuclear and Tehran defeat in Syria, alongside "political, security and economic issues affecting the two countries."

Last week, the two discussed "regional issues in the security and political aspect" Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi next Friday, the Prime Minister's Office announced today (Tuesday).

At the center of the meeting, which will be the first between the two leaders, are expected the Iranian nuclear stand and the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Syria. "The two will discuss a range of political, security and economic issues affecting the two countries, and important regional issues, most notably the Iranian nuclear program," the prime minister's office said, noting that Putin had invited Bennett to a meeting in Russia.

The two spoke on Thursday, and Bennett praised Putin for his birthday. The Prime Minister's Office said the two had discussed several issues, including "regional issues in the security and political aspects." 

The two agreed to meet in the first conversation they held after Bennett took over as prime minister. So, Bennett thanked the President of Russia for the role his country plays in maintaining regional stability, as well as assisting in the issue of prisoners and missing persons. He thanked Putin for his congratulations on the establishment of the government in Israel, and expressed his appreciation for the historical connection between the Russian people and the Jewish people, including Russian immigration to Israel.
