Dr. Tarek Tawfiq, Deputy Minister of Health for Population Affairs, said that Egypt's rank in the population growth rate is 14th in the world, explaining that any rate exceeding half a percent is a high rate, noting that the Egyptian rate is four times that, i.e. 2%.
He added that there are a large number of countries in the world that exceed the 1% increase in population like Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, and Indonesia, while in China, the growth is half a percent.
The Deputy Minister of Health emphasized that the split in which institutions operate in the population control program will not lead to any result, and called for the establishment of a single body that will be responsible for coordinating efforts and will work to achieve the desired goals.
