Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Gilad Erdan commented Sunday on the serious incident that occurred on the previous night on the Gaza Strip border.

“Border Police officers are among the best and bravest of our sons, it was a privilege to meet them in person when I served as the Public Security Minister,” Erdan wrote on Twitter.

“Since last night I pray for the well-being of 1st. Sgt. Barel Shmueli Cohen, who is now fighting for his life after a despicable terrorist shot him on the Strip border. I strengthen his dear family. We will all pray for his recovery.”
