On Friday, the British Ministry of Defense released an update from military intelligence on the latest developments in the field in Ukraine.
British military intelligence announced, in a Twitter post, that Russian forces have now completely withdrawn from northern Ukraine to Belarus and Russia.
British intelligence estimates that "at least some of these Russian forces may be transferred to eastern Ukraine to fight in Donbes."
They said, "Russian bombing of cities in the east and south will continue, and that Russian forces have advanced south of the city of Izumi, which is still under their control."
Ukrainian authorities are making efforts to evacuate civilians from the eastern regions threatened by Russian attack, while President Volodymyr Zalansky stressed that the destruction in Borodianka is more severe than that recorded recently near the capital after the departure of Russian forces.
As Russia intensifies its attacks in the south and east, European Commission President Ursula von der Lane and EU Foreign Minister Joseph Burrell were reported on Friday around the city of Kyiv to gauge the extent of real damage in areas abandoned by Russian forces.
Zlansky said the destruction in Borodianka, near Kyiv, was worse than in Bocha, where images of dead bodies on the streets provoked international outrage.
Attention is currently focused on the east of the country, which has become Moscow's first target. On Thursday, a Kremlin spokesman acknowledged that Russian forces had suffered "significant military casualties" in the region, noting that it was a "great tragedy" for Russia.
