Lapid will fly next week for his first visit to Washington for talks on Iran

The Foreign Minister will meet with senior U.S. administration officials, including the Secretary of State and the National Security Adviser. According to senior Israeli officials, Lapid wants to convey Israel's messages on the issue of Iran to the most senior people in the administration before the nuclear talks resume. Israel is pushing to formulate an alternative plan in case the talks are not renewed or fail.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will take off next week for a visit to Washington and will meet with senior US administration officials for talks on the Iranian issue, senior Israeli officials involved in the details of the trip said today (Wednesday). This will be Lapid's first visit to Washington since he took office as Secretary of State. He will stay in the U.S. capital from October 12-14. During the visit, he will meet with Secretary of State Tony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Vice President Camela Harris. Israel is pressuring the Biden administration to formulate an alternative plan in case the nuclear talks with Iran are not resumed soon or if the talks are resumed but Iran does not agree to return to full implementation of the nuclear agreement. Israeli officials have said that Lapid wants to make sure he conveys Israeli messages on the Iranian issue to the most senior figures in the Biden administration before the nuclear talks resume.
