Overview: Himika Bhattacharya is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement at Syracuse University (Syracuse).

Bhattacharya is an associate professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Women and Gender Studies Department at Syracuse.

Supporting BDS at Syracuse
On September 25, 2016, Bhattacharya signed a BDS petition, denouncing an upcoming partnership conference between Syracuse and Tel Aviv University (TAU).

The petition cited the guidelines put forth by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) and called upon Syracuse to join BDS, accusing Israel of practicing apartheid.

Bhattacharya also signed a petition of the Syracuse community whose purpose was “to state our support of the principles of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which works to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian peoples."
