Starting next month: WhatsApp will stop supporting millions of devices

The messaging app will stop supporting more than 40 different types of old smartphones around the world - including an iPhone model that has been celebrating a decade. Is your phone on the list? Apparently, it's time to upgrade!

Do you have an old Android smartphone? Have an iPhone 4S and do not want to update it? WhatsApp announced over the weekend that starting November 1, it will stop operating millions of old devices around the world.

According to WhatsApp, the app will continue to run only on devices running Android 4.1 and above, or iPhones with an updated version for iOS 10 and above. In total, more than 40 smartphone models will lose access to the application.

Among the devices that will not support the app, you can find the Galaxy S3 Mini, iPhone 4S and a series of LG's Optimus L and Optimus F models. It also means that if you have a newer model iPhone and have not updated the operating system, you will need to update the version if you want to continue using WhatsApp.
