The American newspaper "THE HILL" predicts that the Russian war in Ukraine will have "serious" consequences for the Middle East, especially regarding the Iranian establishment in Syria and the regional security of Israel and the United States.

The paper said in a report that the news indicated that Iran was filling the vacuum left by Russia in Syria, which could herald a "serious deterioration in regional stability". The paper added that Russia had become "opposed" to Israel because of its position on the war in Ukraine, "and for this reason Putin may want to punish Israel by ending security coordination with it in Syria, which has allowed it to harm Iranian targets in the past," which could push Tehran to step up.
