There is no other site in the world that holds so much history and at the same time, has such an important spiritual meaning as The Temple Mount in the holy city of Jerusalem.

Adam and Eve, Abraham and Isaac, the Temples, and their destruction. The stories of Jesus who prayed and spoke at the Mount. It lasts to this day – indeed, it may be even more important during our times!

Thanks to modern archeology and research, we know more about the Temple Mount than ever before, and still there is so much we do not know. It is not an exaggeration to say that this one small area has such wide spiritual influence unlike any other on this earth.

We have all heard about the Temple Mount in the last year in the news, but there is other news, even more exciting that is not often spoken about.

In 1999, the Supreme Islamic Authority (WAKF) began digging on the Temple Mount and trucks began to take the “refuse” away. Israeli archeologists were alerted and stepped in.

In 1999, General (ret.) Amir Drori, who was then the director-general of the Israel Antiquities Authority, called the brutal removal of the large amounts of debris an “archaeological crime.” Elyakim Rubinstein, then Israel’s attorney-general, described it as a “swift kick to the history of the Jewish people”. Later on, when Dvira and Barkay began sifting through the debris that had been removed from the Temple Mount, the scope of the “archaeological crime” became clear.

The only real way to deal with this was to confiscate all the “refuse” and to sift through it. To let us understand, we are talking of approximately 12,000 tons.

For 18 years, archeologists and many volunteers have been working since then, sifting through all the dirt where they have found literally tens of thousands of artifacts inside. This project goes on daily, and probably will for several years to come.

Avi Tavisal, a well-known Israeli born designer of jewelry observed these events with a special eye. He had a unique vision. 'I always dreamed of making something that would involve the diamonds with my passion for Jerusalem’.

In 1999, Avi heard about the illegal excavations that caused severe damage to the Temple Mount. A volunteer sifting center was set up to save some of the ancient treasures that were nearly destroyed.

“God made me a partner in one of the most important and little-known projects – the filtering of the dirt on the Temple Mount. This began with digging the Waqf (The Muslim High Religious Command) was doing on the Mount. What they had dug out was being thrown out and archeologists rushed to save anything that might be found. I took the initiative and became a sponsor of this project because it strongly attracted me.

In the end, I was able to connect the gold, the most precious metal in the world, with diamonds which is the most precious stone in the world, and shards from the oldest stone in the world – that from the Temple Mount.”

All this brings us to what Avi Tavisal and his family called “The Moriah Collection”, taken from Gensis 22:2 - Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
