PASSOVER - TEMPLE MOUNT

*** A total of 728 Jews ascended the Temple Mount today, under heavy security and abusive chants towards them by Muslim worshipers.
For most of the time, the police preferred to keep a certain distance from the rioters, and in isolated cases used means to disperse demonstrations - when on the other hand, rioters fired fireworks at them.

ISRAEL - SECURITY

*** The police should ban the entry of young Palestinians, only young people, to the Temple Mount until the end of Passover. This is the best way to prevent friction, conflict and injury.

*** Jews attacked in the Old City on the way to the Western Wall.

*** Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev: "We consider the disturbances, the throwing of stones on buses in Jerusalem and the injury of the passengers to be serious. It is important for us to allow freedom of worship, but we will not compromise when violence and terrorism occur.

*** MK Itamar Ben Gvir: "If the political echelon continues to abandon the lives of police officers, soldiers and civilians, I will establish a bureau at the Nablus Gate. That Hamas will not scare me. They are rioting, and Minister Bar-Lev calls to release terrorists, and I am lighting the fire? Just the opposite!"

ISRAEL - POLITICAL

*** RA'AM - Resign! - better for us all! The Mufti of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Muhammad Salameh Hassan, urged members of the Ra'am party to withdraw from the coalition: "For the sake of al-Aqsa, withdraw immediately from the coalition that is attacking our Holy of Holies in Palestine." He added that "God has not responded to a government that attacks civilians through the police"

*** Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu: "It is forbidden to allow that buses were stoned today in the heart of Jerusalem. We must take a hard line against terrorism and immediately restore peace and security to the capital of Israel."

PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

*** PA Chairman Abu Mazen postponed the Palestinian leadership meeting scheduled for today until further notice without providing explanations which angered the Palestinian street. "Why are Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque not important to him?" people on the Palestinian street ask.

*** Hamas operatives today on the Temple Mount with flags of the movement and shout in praise of Muhammad Deif, the top commander of Hamas' military wing, and call for his help.

*** Hussein a-Sheikh, the possible successor of Abu Mazen: "The dangerous Israeli escalation in al-Haram al-Sharif in order to divide the al-Aqsa Mosque in terms of time and space is a blatant aggression against our holy places."

JORDAN

*** Jordanian Foreign Ministry: "Continuation of Israel's steps to change the historic status quo in the al-Aqsa Mosque - dangerous escalation"
