After the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that its fighter jets and UAVs had attacked training camps, hiding places and ammunition depots belonging to the Kurds in the northern regions of Iraq and Syria, the Kurdish communications network Rodeo reported today, Thursday, that the Zilkan military base under Turkish controll was attacked by 6 rockets.
The network quoted Muhammad Amin, Turkish commander of the Zilkan district in the Nineveh province, as saying that the attack did not cause any damage.
He announced that the missiles had been launched from Mosul towards the base and landed in its vicinity, adding that this was the tenth time that the Turkish basilica base had been attacked within a year.
60 aircraft participated
The airstrikes are part of Turkey's ongoing campaign in Iraq and Syria against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish Defense Forces (YPG), which Ankara sees as "terrorist groups."
Meanwhile, sources in the Turkish Ministry of Defense noted that about 60 planes and aircraft took part in the operation, with fighter jets taking off from 6 different airports, accompanied by refueling planes, warning and early control planes and drones.
