Police officers, security forces and volunteers were deployed around the Old City of Jerusalem to guard the worshipers who frequent the Western Wall plaza starting from the entrance of the Tisha B'Av fast.

Fasting on Tisha B'Av is in memory of the destruction of the two temples, the first and the second, and other difficult events that happened to the people of Israel.
