Abu Obeida, a spokesman for Hamas' military wing, announced:

"We are announcing a deterioration in the health of one of the enemy prisoners of the Al-Qassam Brigades, and we will publish a confirmation of this in the coming hours, God willing."

This is seen in Israel as a Hamas tactic to exert pressure on Israel to reach a deal to an exchange of prisoners on Hamas terms.
