This morning, a car in Samaria hit an elderly Arab woman who later died of her wounds.
Immediately, Arabs converged and claimed that a Jewish "settler" had hit her and drove off without stopping.
The "proof" that it was a "settler" was because, again, according to them, the car that hit her had an Israeli license plate.
It may be that they are right. But it may be that they are wrong. Many Israeli Arabs travel on Fridays (their free day from work) to Judea and Samaria to do "shopping" in the Palestinian Authority which has cheaper prices. It may have been one of them.
As we were writing, we received this statement form the Israeli police:
Summary: A car accident that occurred earlier today at the Single Junction.
The offending driver reported to police that he was involved in an accident and hit a pedestrian. He claimed after the accident he was afraid to stop at the entrance to the village and continued driving for several minutes so he called the police and reported that he was involved in the accident and hit a pedestrian.
A police force member of the offending driver detained him for a preliminary investigation during which his vehicle and license were seized and he was summoned for further investigation by the SJ District Traffic Examiners. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
But that hasn't stopped the Arab Pallywood service.
In the last 4-5 hours, Arab media has reported not only was the hit and run driver a "settler" but they are giving the poor woman who was killed the lofty status as a "Martyr", meaning she was not killed, but murdered in an act of Jewish settler terror.
Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhamed a-Shatiya himself came out and called this an "evil terror attack".
The picture attached is an instant poster of the woman killed calling her a "Martyr".
This has helped get people out onto the roads in the difficult weather to riot, for the IDF to be called in to return order, people wounded, and so on.
