Smutrich Responds to the Lack of a Majority in the Coalition to Pass the Family Reunification Law

Chairman of the Religious Zionism party Bezalel Smutrich responded to the lack of a majority in the coalition to pass the Family Reunification Law due to opposition from Meretz and Ra'am:

"I see an organized, purposefully timed, and hypocritical campaign of a left-wing party regarding the Family Reunification Act.

Let's clarify:

For months we have been shouting that forming a government that relies on Israel's enemies that support terrorism is a disaster for the Jewish state- and that such a coalition will not only be unable to safeguard the vital interests of the State of Israel, but will harm them.

Bennett, due to irresponsible and uncontrollable lust for power and revenge, explained that it is possible to "put everything aside", and deliberately torpedoed the formation of a right-wing government that was within reach, breaking every democratic value and crossing every red line, and joined the far left and supporters of terrorism to force himself on the citizens of Israel as head of administration with six seats.

Now, as usual, he is running spins and manipulations and rolling his eyes and pushing the responsibility onto the opposition.

We have a huge responsibility on our shoulders for the people of Israel and the State of Israel. This responsibility obliges us first and foremost to expose the lies and burn onto our consciousness the existential threat of relying on supporters of terrorism, to prevent such a terrible mistake in the future, overthrow this evil government and establish a good Zionist government for Israel in its place.

It is not a "created rule", and in general, our desire to bring the right back to power is not an obscene idea. This is our mission. The government is a means of promoting values and good policy for Israel, and only a right-wing government from the national camp will do that.

The opposition has not yet decided how to proceed, but one thing should be clear: in forming an extreme left-wing government with supporters of terrorism, Bennett and his allies have harmed, and continue to harm, Israel's security and the Jewish majority of the state. The responsibility for this is on them and them alone. Our responsibility is to show them the door out of the political system, as soon as possible."
