Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 01.07.2022
According to official data released yesterday, the population in Saudi Arabia has shrunk last year. Data from the Saudi General Statistics Authority showed that the number of residents in the kingdom decreased by 2.6% as of mid-2021, compared to mid-2020.
The authority attributed this trend to a 8.6% decrease in the number of non-Saudi residents who left the country and returned to their homeland during the corona plague. At the same time, the Statistics Authority noted that the Saudi population grew by 1.2% during the period in question.
