Iran threatens: "Today's assassination crossed a red line; those responsible will pay"

Al-Jazeera quoted an Iranian source as saying that the assassination of Revolutionary Guards officer Siad Khodai "has many equations" and that those behind the operation "will pay a heavy price."

The senior was killed in his car in the heart of Tehran by two motorcyclists who fired five bullets at him from zero range. It is estimated that he was behind a series of terrorist attacks against Israelis around the world - including against the Israeli consul in Istanbul.
