Sohaib Hassan Yousef, the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, the leader of Hamas in the West Bank, said in an October 10, 2021 interview on Sky News Arabia (UAE) that Hamas members use humanitarian aid money obtained from Arab and Islamic nations to procure Turkish citizenship and passports for its operatives.
He also said that Hamas and Hezbollah share technology, as well as information about launching rockets into Israel and digging tunnels to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel.
Yousef's father, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, is the co-founder and current leader of Hamas in the West Bank. Sohaib Hassan Yousef had been a Hamas operative stationed in Turkey before defecting from Hamas in 2019. Sohaib’s brother, Mosab Hassan Yousef, known for his autobiography Son of Hamas, had served as an informant for Israeli intelligence services before defecting from Hamas in the late 2000s.
Sohaib Hassan Yousef: "Based on my experience with Hamas, it collects money from Arab and Islamic nations. I saw that Hamas and its members in Turkey exploited Turkey’s decision to allow the purchase of Turkish citizenship and passports. They exploited this and began to buy Turkish citizenship using money that they collected from Arab and Islamic nations – money that was meant to be used as the daily bread of the poor and for building hospitals and schools.
