For about two weeks, all over the country, there was a unique collaboration between a naval battalion sailing from Bahrain to the United States, and special units and IDF fighters. In the first week, the Marines trained together on fire-power assistance, and this week there was a combat training in an urban area with anti-terror fighters.

"During the training of the anti-terror, there was a need to maintain the fitness of the fighters," explained the Lt. Col. of the anti-terror school, Captain E. We wanted to work on combat in a built-up area and an urban outline, along with armoured carriors, infantry and fire assistance forces of the Marines.
The long-term cooperation between the Marines, the anti-terror and other countries has already proven itself several times in the last year. The largest among them in the HD exercise, in which several countries participated.
Although the cooperation was built relatively quickly, the set of preparations was large and detailed: "We carried out a very strict safety system. The most stringent procedures are those that were in the exercise, and went down to the last detail."
"A joint command (front command room) of the Marines and the IDF conducted the exercise remotely. "IDF fighters and the Marines integrated quickly to learn from each other."
"We surprised the Marines guys with abilities," he smiles, "we worked, together with them, in the most professional way. We performed a very similar exercise to theirs - and we learned from each other all the time."
"We saw that they also act differently," adds an officer, "but this is not necessarily something that is "better or worse". The gap is not large and can also be bridged with professional help - the profession and the fighting is what matters."
In addition to the exercise, there were annual staff talks between the IDF and the Navy. The headquarters and training talks were led by an infantry and chief paratrooper officer, Brigadier General Guy Levy, as part of which the joint work plan for 2022 was established.
Navy fighters are due to leave only this coming Sunday, as they will have to load a lot of equipment on planes - back to the United States. Meanwhile in the IDF, they already conclude: "When we planned the training, the Marines set the goals - and we managed to meet the threshold of maintaining their competence.
It was a very high standard of training - but we have already agreed together with the armies that they are starting to prepare for the next training."
