It has not yet been determined whether the missiles were aimed at Iranian militia sites or ISIS in the Syrian desert.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced today, Wednesday, that U.S. forces stationed at al-Tanf base, in the border triangle between Syria, Iraq and Jordan, fired four long-range surface-to-surface missiles from the base to the west.
It is not known where the missiles have fallen so far, or whether they were aimed at Iranian militia sites or ISIS targets in the Syrian desert and its environs.
This coincides with the flight of fighter jets by the International Coalition in the airspace of the region.
On November 18, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in London, stated that the Jaish Mu'awir al-Thura militia, with the participation of American forces, was conducting military exercises with live fire at al-Tanf base, in order to increase readiness for combat.
The U.S. base in al-Tanf, which houses hundreds of U.S. forces, was attacked last October by armed UAVs.
