1993: A major terror disaster stopped by a bus driver who gave his life

In September 1993, a despicable terrorist armed with a knife and grenades took over bus No. 300, which was loaded with passengers on its way from Ashkelon to Tel Aviv, while holding a knife to the throat of the bus driver, Mr. Yehiel Karmi.

The driver Yehiel Karmi, did not lose his wits.

He stopped the bus and threw the coin dispenser at the terrorist. He moved the bus to the side of the road and opened the back door, allowing passengers to escape.

The terrorist stabbed the driver, sat on him, shouted Allah Hu Akbar, and Stabbed him repeatedly, killing him.

A paratrooper on the bus shot the terrorist and killed him. The driver, the late Yehiel Karmi, showed resourcefulness, composure and courage, prevented the terrorist from carrying out his plan and throwing grenades on the bus, thereby preventing a major disaster.

He was brave...a true hero. May his soul rest in peace. His family may feel his loss greatly but I hope have pride in his deed.
