Police Spokeswoman (Jerusalem): Shooting attack in the Old City of Jerusalem - update:

This morning around 09:00, a terrorist armed with a Carlo-type weapon carried out a shooting attack in the Old City of Jerusalem.

As a result of the shooting attack, two civilians were seriously injured (according to medical sources), and were evacuated for medical treatment at the hospital and two other policemen were lightly injured. Jerusalem District Police and Border Police returned fire at the terrorist and neutralized him.

Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Doron Turgeman arrived at the scene and is currently conducting a situation assessment. Large police forces continue to operate at the scene of the attack.

The terrorist who carried out the deadly attack this morning is Sheikh Fadi Abu Shahidam.

It is now being told that one of the Israelis injured has died of his wounds.

Another man who is in serious condition is in surgery and it is said that he is "fighting for his life".
