Although the telephone conversation between President Zelensky and Prime Minister Bennett was entitled "Wishing Happy Independence Day," a large part of it discussed Zelensky's request that Israel turn to the Russians to help evacuate civilians from Azovstal. A call was made to Putin. The evacuation of the citizens from the place has been completed.

Following Israel's assistance at President Zelensky's request in resolving the issue of evacuating civilians from Azovstal in Mariupol, Minister Zeev Elkin conveyed to Ukrainian officials that if there were situations in which Israel could assist the Russians on humanitarian issues, Israel would be ready to do so.
