US envoy to Iran: Tehran's strategy will suffer if it continues to make progress in its nuclear program

US envoy to Iran Robert Mali said on Tuesday that talks on the nuclear issue in Vienna would be stopped if Iran continued to advance its nuclear program.

The US envoy made it clear that Tehran's strategy would be harmed if it continued its nuclear progress.

"At some point we may have to negotiate a new and completely different deal," Robert Mali said.

The White House had earlier announced that the US was working on new measures against Iran, which it would take in the event of a failure to negotiate a nuclear issue in Vienna.

On Monday, White House spokeswoman Jen Pesky said that based on Iran's position in the latest round of negotiations, President Joe Biden has instructed national security staff to be prepared for diplomacy failure and to consider other options.
