USA corona death toll higher than Spanish Flu?

The number of Americans who died from Corona is higher than in the Spanish flu
Nearly 675,000 people have died from the virus in the US, and although its population is now a third larger than a century ago, it is a huge loss in light of advances in medicine and available vaccines. Experts hope that like that epidemic, corona

Although the population of the United States a hundred years ago was a third smaller than it is today, so the Spanish flu was relatively more deadly, but the corona plague is a heavy disaster in itself, especially in light of meteoric advances in medicine and failure to maximize available vaccines today.

"Large sections of American society - and worse, their leaders - have thrown this in the trash," said medical historian Dr. Howard Merkel of the University of Michigan, about the availability of vaccines today to all citizens.

Similar to the Spanish flu, corona may not disappear completely. Instead, experts hope it will become a seasonal disease with the strengthening of the population's immunity through vaccines and recurrent disease. However, this may take time.

"We hope it will be like getting the flu, but there is no guarantee of that," said biologist Rostom Antia, of Emory University. He said the optimistic scenario is that it will happen in a few years.

Meanwhile, the epidemic continues to rage in the United States and other parts of the world. While it is possible that the latest eruption, which resulted from the Delta variant, has already passed the record, the daily death toll from corona in the United States is higher than 1,900 - the highest rate since March.

John Hopkins University, which monitors the data, noted that the overall death toll since the outbreak of the epidemic crossed the 675,000 mark on Monday, though it estimates that the real data is high. This coming winter may lead to a new outbreak, and the University of Washington estimates that one hundred thousand or more Americans will die from Corona by January 1st.

The Spanish influence killed 50 million people worldwide, at a time when the population was a quarter larger today. The death toll from Corona worldwide now stands at more than 4.6 million people, although many believe the real figures are much higher.

The number of victims of the Spanish influence in the United States is only an estimate, due to the missing data from that period and the little scientific understanding regarding the circumstances of the disease. The figure of 675,000 dead came from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
