A network of tunnels backed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards began being excavated under the supervision of their militias, from sites where ammunition depots and military points were located. 

A news source told the Syrian TV network that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are funding the expenses of drilling operations. Their goal is to build a network of tunnels, linked to each other spanning across Syria, allowing them to move easily between their military headquarters and ammunition depots in a secret and untraceable manner.
