In a rare move, two American surveillance planes, the RC-135S reportedly flew toward Russia’s east coast.
The two-aircraft mission was undertaken amid escalating tensions and a tense standoff with Russia over Ukraine.
Online flight-tracking software showed the Cobra Balls flying close to St. Matthew Island, an uninhabited outpost of Alaska in the Bering Sea.
The US spy planes were reportedly on a mission to monitor the test of Russia’s new Sarmat missiles on April 20.
