Iran smells the end of sanctions ...?
Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 29.12.2021
The Iranian Ministry of Oil announced today that the development work of the Azadkan oil field, the largest in the country, will be completed in 2023. When that happens the field will produce 320,000 barrels a day.
The announcement comes one day after the resumption of the round of nuclear talks between Iran and the powers during which Tehran demands the lifting of sanctions so that it can realize its oil revenue potential.
It should be noted that the Iranian Foreign Minister has stated that Iran's focus in the talks that began this week in Vienna will be on the removal of sanctions over its oil sector. The announcement of the completion of work on the largest net field probably indicates some optimism on the Iranian side.
