Sources in Syria report that Iran and Turkey are preparing for a military confrontation in Syria, and that Iran is trying in every way to dissuade the Turkish side from any new intervention in Syria.
"Because of the conflicting regional interests, it appears that Turkey and Iran are going head-to-head in a military confrontation in Syria, where Tehran is openly opposed to Ankara's plan to launch a new military operation against the Kurdish - controlled areas."
Iran opposes the expected Turkish operation, as stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzadeh, "Iran opposes any military action and use of force in other countries' territories in order to settle disputes between the two sides, and sees this as a violation of territorial integrity and national sovereignty."
