Artistic gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won Sunday Israel’s first gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, scoring 14.933 points in the finals of the men's floor exercise.

It is the second Olympic medal in the Jewish state’s history, following Gal Fridman’s windsurfing win in Athens in 2004.

Dolgopyat, 24, nets Israel’s third medal in this year’s competition and the 12th in its entire history.
