Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera was attacked today (Wednesday) in a ransomware cyberattack. The hospital said it was an incident "without prior notice, which affected the hospital's computer systems". The medical center also said that "the hospital is currently running alternative systems for treating patients. Medical care is ongoing on a regular basis except for non-urgent elective activity.
The Ministry of Health stated that "the case was reported to the Ministry of Health and we are working with the hospital to return the entire activity to a full routine."
In addition, the Niado Hospital in Netanya, in coordination with MDA and Hillel Yaffe, announced that it was prepared to accept patients whose treatment would not be possible following the cyber attack.
Mae Brooks-Kempler, cyber expert, founder of the online safe community THINK SAFE CYBER wrote on Facebook: "This is not the first time health systems have experienced a ransomware attack. In a similar incident in Germany in September 2020, a woman died due to delay in treatment due to the attack."
