Fact: Lebanon has no proven reserves of oil or natural gas at all, but there is hope mainly because of the discovery of the fields by Israel. Another fact: one well has been drilled so far in the territory of Lebanon by a Russian, French and Italian partnership, but it only discovered signs of the existence of gas but nothing more than that, without committing to quantities.
All of this did not prevent the corrupt Lebanese politicians, including Nasrallah, from throwing out numbers without cover and assuring the public that the export of oil and gas would bring relief to the failing economy and the problem of electricity production.
But as mentioned, there is no reliable data regarding the gas and oil reserves in Lebanon's waters. If additional drilling does not lead to a significant discovery, no energy company will agree to risk production attempts.
Even if gas is found, it won't be available for years. People are going to be disappointed.
