Arrest of suspects lynching a Jewish citizen in Kafr Qara

In recent weeks, two civilians suspected of carrying out a nationalist lynching in Kafr Qara have been arrested in a joint operation by the General Security Service and the Crime Investigation Unit in the Menashe area.

Bashir Abu Rashad, 21, an Israeli citizen living in Kafr Qara and Muhammad Hamarsha, 31, an Israeli citizen living in Kafr Qara have been apprehended.

The two were arrested as suspects in the violent incidents on a nationalist background in Kafr Qara starting May 10.

Their investigation revealed that they were involved in mass riots as part of a large number of popular terrorist incidents across the country in May, including stone-throwing at security forces, vandalizing public property, burning tires and firing fireworks.

The investigation also accumulated a wealth of information linking Muhammad Hamarsha also to an incident of attacking a Jewish citizen on May 11, 2021, who was involved in particularly violent riots in Kafr Qara near Road 65 while driving his vehicle. As a result of the serious assault, the victim suffered injuries and a great deal of damage was done to his vehicle.

Additional information indicated Abu Rashad's involvement in a very serious Linz incident in a Jewish family who accidentally stumbled upon Kfar Qara on May 12, 2001, during which the family vehicle was hit by a barrage of stones and an attempt was made to open the vehicle doors and injure its occupants.

The investigation of the suspects in the General Security Service has ended and indictments have been filed today.

The General Security Service and the Israel Police take the involvement of Israeli citizens in terrorism very seriously, and will continue to take all measures at its disposal to thwart any threat and bring to justice those involved in the terrorist attacks and violent incidents in Israeli cities during May.
