Israel on Thursday completed an international military exercise for UAV operators, the first of its kind in the country, two months after the Israeli military campaign it conducted mainly with these UAVs against the Palestinian Hamas movement in Gaza.
Ten days ago, drone operators from Israel, the United States, Italy, Germany, Britain and France conducted a joint exercise called "The Blue Guard" at the Palmachim air base, south of Tel Aviv.
Amir Lazar, commander of the exercise on behalf of the Israeli Air Force at the site, said that the exercise was intended to "place the Israeli army among the leading countries in terms of remote aircraft operators."
"Today, 80% of the Israeli army's operational flight hours are performed by these aircraft," he explained.
