"Jusour": This is how the US undermines Russian-Iranian cooperation in Syria

A research article published by the "Jusour for Studies" center revealed a mechanism used by the US to distract Russian forces and prevent them from supporting Iranian militias in carrying out attacks against US forces in Syria.

The study stated, "On March 22, 2023, the Air Force Commander of the US Central Command, Alexus Grinkevich, revealed that Russian warplanes had carried out about 25 sorties over the al-Tanf military base, in the countryside of Homs during that month compared to zero sorties in February and 14 sorties in January, which the US considers a violation of the conflict prevention agreement signed between the two sides since 2019, and it warns that the continuation of these sorties may affect the efforts to fight terrorism in Syria.

At the end of that month, reports in the Western press talked about the support of Russian intelligence in the missile attacks carried out by Iranian militias against the military bases of the American forces in Syria, such as al-Tanf and the town of al-Hadara' - the green (al-Omar oil field).

The article summarized the new American mechanisms in three military moves:

Increasing the steps and movements of US and NATO aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean with the aim of engaging all types of Russian forces present in Syria in monitoring and controlling these steps and movements, especially the Russian air and space forces stationed at the Hamim base, which will ensure the reduction of the opportunities and capabilities of this main base In particular, and of the Russian forces in general, to monitor the activity of the American forces deployed in the Al-Tanf area and east of the Euphrates.

The return of the military presence of the American forces to the Syrian regions from which they withdrew in 2019 in view of the deployment of the Russian forces. At the head of these areas is the Raqqa governorate, where US forces began overt activity from the beginning of 2023, and which manifested itself in the establishment of an American military base on the outskirts of the city and the beginning of the formation of a local military militia that will be composed of the residents of the district and will be completely subordinate to the coalition forces and the US forces.

Last April, the Danish General Staff announced the withdrawal of its soldiers who are in Syria and Iraq as part of the mission of the international coalition forces against ISIS, and its participation in the military exercises called "Aurora 23" together with 13 other countries led by the United States and Great Britain, with the participation of 26 thousand soldiers with the aim of building a joint military defense system and strengthening European military forces.

This comes as a contribution to strengthening European forces against Russia in return for taking additional deterrent measures against Russia in Syria and the Mediterranean.

The study concluded that all these "past moves" indicate that the United States is working to disrupt the so-called intelligence cooperation between Russia and Iran in Syria.
