Avi Har-Evan was one of the founders of the IDF's missile and advanced weaponry programs and served as the director of the Israel Space Agency.

For all his work, he was awarded the prestigious Israel Prize for security.

Three weeks ago, Avi, 84 years old, was staying at a hotel in Akko when Arab rioters launched a pogrom in the city and torched the hotel. He sustained significant burns and suffered from smoke inhalation, and as a result, he lost consciousness and was hooked up to a ventilator.

Yesterday, Avi succumbed to his wounds.
