A study published by the Center for Operational Analytics and Research - the independent Syrian independent charter, found that the volume of narcotics coming from Syria confiscated between 2013-2015 increased four to six times compared to 2011.
The centers and sites of local drug production for the purpose of trade have grown. In addition, smuggling and transportation of drugs coming from Lebanon or Iran, as well as the number of intercepted shipments and concealment of shipments have progressed technically.
A local study revealed what the paper mentioned, monitoring 50 drug production sites in Syria, as there are about 14 Captagon production centers, 12 Crystal Meth production centers and 23 cannabis production centers.
According to the study, narcotics leave Syria - especially Captagon shipments - to three main destinations: North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and Europe, where available evidence suggests that the markets in mainland North Africa are now a transit station for drugs destined for the Middle East.
