Sources close with Former Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi have said that his son, Saif al-Islam, has officially decided to run in the run-up to the upcoming presidential election.
The National Lobby News website quoted a private source as saying: "Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has decided to officially run in the presidential election, which will be held in Libya at the end of this year."
Meanwhile, the New York Times reveals that Gaddafi plans to return to the country's political arena gradually and that he is supported and accepted by supporters of the former regime, which may push him to rule the entire country.
The paper added that "Saif took advantage of his absence from public life and quietly reorganized his political power as he believes his movement can restore the lost unity in the country."
