Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Monday he is “saddened and pained over the passing of Border Police fighter 1st. Sgt. Barrel Hadaria Shmueli z”l who fell during action in the northern Gaza Strip.

“Over the last week, I was in constant contact with his mother, Nitza, and we prayed together with the people in Israel for his recovery. My spouse Michal and I embrace the family and share in the heavy grief over the passing of a dear and beloved son. May his memory be a blessing,” Herzog eulogized.
