Remembering the Farhud
Im Tirtzu 02.06.2021
On June 1, 1941, on the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, Iraqi Muslims launched a violent pogrom known as the "Farhud" against the Jewish community of Baghdad.
In the span of two days, more than 180 Jews were slaughtered, thousands more were injured, and tons of Jewish property was pillaged.
The massacre was instigated by the Nazis together with infamous Palestinian Arab leader, Haj Amin al-Husseini, who incited the Muslim population of Baghdad against the Jews.
May the memories of the innocent victims be a blessing.
