The new Kuwaiti decision regarding goods from Israel
Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 05.12.2021
Kuwait last night issued a decision to prove that it is not moviing towards normalization with Israel.
The Gulf state has announced that it prohibits the entry of ships loaded with goods on their way from or to Israel. This decision is in fact an application to the Arab boycott laws that Kuwait adopted in the mid-1960s.
Of course, this is more of a declarative and symbolic step than a step of commercial economic significance. In any case, it is no wonder that Hamas was quick to welcome the decision after only recently seeing the signing of security agreements, for example between Israel and Morocco.
