The Palestinian Authority is aware of the anger that Jordan has towards it. In Amman they claim that in Ramallah they did not really make any efforts to prevent Palestinians from flying abroad using the Ilan Ramon airport near Eilat.
The use of the Israeli airport may cause serious financial damage from the point of view of Jordan. Up until now, the Palestinians have been flying abroad through the Queen Alia airport in the Jordanian capital.
In its apology, the Palestinian Authority claimed that it was unable to prevent Palestinian flights from Sde Ramon due to the "complexity of the agreements with Israel". The authority claims that the way to fight the Ramon option is by improving the passage on the bridges and improving the conditions at the Alia airport.
