Friday, the Iraqi security authorities managed to shoot down a small aircraft loaded with a million narcotic pills in the province of Batzra, the Iraqi news agency "Information" reported, quoting the Iraqi intelligence and investigation divisions.
The Defense Department said in a statement that after receiving intelligence information about the presence of a tiny homemade aircraft hovering in the skies of the Batzra sub-district in the Grishan area, a joint work team of the Batzar district and the 14th Brigade of the Border Police was immediately set up.
Authorities confirmed that following the scan operation, the aircraft was discovered and fired at, forcing the pilot to land the aircraft and flee towards the border strip with one of the neighboring countries. The search is still ongoing, while the narcotic bullets, estimated at 1 million bullets, which the pilot intended to bring into Iraqi territory, were seized.
