The money promised by Defense Minister Gantz to Abu Mazen is a spin-off deal that makes the protest over the payment of salaries to terrorists ridiculous - towards Israeli law and in the eyes of the world.

This is a ploy that turns the Israeli protest over the payment of salaries to terrorists and Israeli law, which requires the government to take action against the PA for insisting on paying these salaries to all forbidden and released terrorists, under Palestinian law that defines these terrorists as the Palestinian sector's fighting sector. 

It is not enough that we make fun of ourselves, since we have determined that our highest interest is to strengthen the PA, regardless of its actions and conduct, we severely impair our ability to demand that the PA stop its custom of encouraging hatred of Israel and inciting terrorism, including by paying salaries to terrorists. We are also weakening our ability to sue international bodies to influence the PA to stop this policy and halt its moves to undermine Israel's legitimacy in the international arena, including in the criminal court in The Hague.

Another and more convincing explanation is that the aid is given to please the US administration, which does not believe that in the current circumstances it is possible to promote a political settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but it is important for them to be attentive to the Palestinians and rescue them by preserving them. 

The Biden administration is also convinced that the authority is suffering from an unprecedented financial crisis, but is unable to provide American aid to the authority both because US law prohibits it as long as the authority continues to pay salaries to terrorists and their families and because its attempts to circumvent the law were thwarted by one of the senators. 

It seems that Israel was ordered by the administration, during the meeting between Biden and Bennett, to solve the problem. If Israel received a significant return from the Americans, then it may be to justify this strange move, but if we received in return only a little beyond gratitude and appreciation, I doubt if it is adequate compensation.
